So i have been pondering why the Royals stink so much?
i came to this soulution the ownership is to affraid to lay a dime into the ball club. bring back the glory days from the 80's and early 90's. bring back the pride to kansas city make it so fans arnt ashamed to wear a royals jersey. make it so the fans want to come to the games.

Why do we stink?I would have to agree, ownership doesn't want to spend any money BUT they have started to pony up a little bit more. Also scouting has been gawd awful. I think that Dayton Moore has the team moving in the right direction with free agency and trades along with investing some time outside of the US to find talent. The stadium renovations will help bring fans in and provide a little extra money. It's hard to get back to the glory days when you are playing in the AL Central though because those owners want to win now. 5 games over .500 is my prediction for the year and that is a big step forward. |

Why do we stink?We stink because of free agency. In the 80's and very early 90's the Royals were placing 1st or second in the division with the same players they developed in thier minor league organization.Along came free agency and small market teams begin playing second fiddle to teams like New York & Boston to name a few.Do you really think George Brett or Willie Wilson stay in Kansas City for less money? Small market teams can only compete with careful manipilation of the draft choices they make.If thier minor league teams bear fruit the organization may prosper.Eventually, alot of major league teams start to appear like a farm team to many of the big boys. The Royals have spent a little bit of money but everyone knows thats just a bandade. The future is bleak and built to stay that way.That said... I'm hoping for a little more than 5 games over 500.I know how tough the Central is but blind faith is my speciality. |
